Brunch has been a thing for a few years now in Barcelona, and foodies just won’t let the craze died down. But behind all the hype, which are the brunch restaurants that truly satisfy an empty tummy and a flavor fix? We share some true-and-tested places where you can get a tasty and filling brunch in Barcelona!
Passeig de Sant Joan, 33
The nature-inspired decor of El Arbol will make you feel like you’re visiting an oasis in the Eixample neighborhood. Its wooden tables, embellishing foliage, and cool hanging chairs invite brunch crowds to stay awhile and enjoy the experience. Lines here are out the door, so come early because they don’t take reservations. Hungry brunchers, try our recommendations: the killer Eggs Benedict and stacked pancakes topped with strawberries and bananas. Need some vegan options? We recommend the Veggie Green Burger and exotic tropical smoothie to give you a health boost. Their cake menu is outstanding too: cheesecake, lemon pie, carrot cake, and coffee candy cake are just some of the options for sweet lovers. Come inside if you want friendly service, a fun brunch, and great atmosphere. Brunch runs about €35 for two. Fur parents, your pet is welcome here too!
Carrer del Comte Borrell, 75
If you’re in search for the robust American-style breakfast and brunch, La Desayuneria is for you. Pancakes are their specialty, and they don’t disappoint with their unique toppings that meld together beautifully. Portions are generous. For a complete meal, try the Especial Americano Mañanero, which is a one-dish feast of eggs, pancakes, bacon, Italian sausage, potatoes, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, and fried onions. Good news: If you can’t get this delicious food at brunch hour, you can order it any time of the day. While La Desayuneria leans toward American food, adventurous eaters can try one of the international options like Korean bibimbap. Prices run around €30 for two.
Carrer de Bailèn, 115
Billy Brunch is a magnet for foodies who want have their brunch in an inviting atmosphere of vintage decor. As a popular brunch spot, the interior is tight and the lines are long. But don’t turn around just yet! The hype behind this brunch spot is built around their flavorful brunch menu. Their Shakshuka dish is the best we’ve had in the city, and their Eggs Benedict are a top contender as well. Need something not so heavy? Billy Brunch also has a good range of healthy and nutritious options like energizing detox juices, mimosas, and a superfood omelette. Prices run around €35 to €40 for two.
Carrer del Pintor Fortuny, 31
Caravelle has been serving imaginative and flavorful dishes years before the brunch trend exploded. Tucked in the Raval neighborhood, this modern and hip restaurant stands out for its eclectic menu that always finds the right balance of flavors. For palate pleasers, try the Spanglish breakfast, coconut French toast with fresh strawberries and ice cream, or the baked Moroccan-style eggs with feta cheese. Then wash it down one with an insanely good cafe latte, straight from Nomad Coffee, local Barcelona coffee roasters. Foodie tip: come here outside the brunch hour for another outstanding meal for tasty tacos, craft beer, and other seasonal items.
