5 Barcelona Wine Bars for Serious Wine Lovers

Serious wine lovers and easy drinkers won’t find a shortage of wine canteens in Barcelona.  From swanky cellars to low-key bodegas, here are the best wine bars where you can sniff, swirl, and sip your way through the city.

Monvínic

The crème de la crème of all wine bars in Barcelona, this multi-space bar and restaurant impresses through its sleek, contemporary design and elegant lighting. Their cellar of 3,000 international wines is so massive that you have to select your wine on an interactive tablet, categorized by region, type, choice of glass, portion, and price. If you need more in-depth knowledge on wine terminology, glide over to the research library. Too overwhelming? Ask one of the well-versed sommeliers to get a suggestion.

Zona d’Ombra

Sitting on a quaint street in the Gothic Quarter, Zona d’Ombra is an intimate and comfortable place to imbibe on your favorite reds while grooving to easy jazz beats.  Both a wine bar and cellar, it displays 300 national wines with special attention to Catalan vino. For delectable tapas, accompany your wine with a burratina of mozzarella with tomato or some carpaccio from Leon. Order wine by the glass or share a bottle with your friends for a €4.50 corkage fee. Then stay inside for a chilled-out atmosphere or get fresh air on the terrace.

El Sortidors del Parlament

This popular light-filled tavern lives in the trendy foodie center in the Sant Antoni neighborhood.  Hanging bird cages and wine barrels used as tables rouse a rustic and modern vibe. Choose from a wide selection of wines, craft beers, and spirits, or opt for their flavorful house vermouth. You can buy a wine bottle at the store price, and just pay €4 for the corkage fee. Want to eat like a Catalan? Try the pa amb tomaquet (bread with tomato) and join the ritual of rubbing garlic and tomato on hearty bread.

La Vinatería del Call

The first wine bar in Barcelona is tucked away in the Jewish Quarter of Barcelona. Its amber lights and candles will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a Medieval bodega. For food, owners like to keep their menu simple but traditionally Spanish – with high-quality dishes like Galician octopus or patatas bravas. Pick your poison from 150 Spanish and mostly Catalan wines like red wines, white, rosado, and cava.
